Interesting - the BG was holding the 14 year old daughter, threatening to shoot her, but her Dad still manages to put
a round into the BG's abdomen. Plus her mother gets arrested for setting this up? Really?

The girl's father was inside the house and heard the commotion, Garza said. "He grabbed his gun and fired through the door."
While I applaude his fortitude, the girl's father is lucky he's not burying his daughter. If you can't see what you're shooting DON'T SQUEEZE THE TRIGGER! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Could the door have been glass? Glass or not you are correct that he is very lucky the daughter was not harmed.

Very good point. The article doesn't describe the door and I made an assumption that it was a standard wood door. While the odds are that I was correct, perhaps I should have reserved judgement until or unless I found out one way or the other. Thank you for the correction.

HAD to be a glass door (I hope) or the father didn't know the daughter was on the other side.
Lucky..

Would be interesting to know what the mothers involvement was...

Families are strange... some more than others.

Shooting through the door glass or not is a BAD idea IMHO! Most front doors that have glass are usually not like window glass, they are smoked or in some way hinder a clear view.

In the second story 4 to 5 BG's entered the house? Exactly why I have a Glock with 17 round mags and not a revolver!!! :fire

And why I carry a fully loaded 1911 w/ 2 spare 8 rnd mags...even when I'm in the house.

I saw the news clip on TV that night. It showed the bullet hole in the glass door. He had complete visibility,
