A guy from Pennsylvania was open carrying at a convenience store in Youngstown OH and some gangbangers who were about to rob the store were scared off when they saw his gun.
Youngstown police told him to submit it to NRA's Armed Citizen and they would corroborate the events.
Anyway, an interesting read.

Interesting read until I came across this totally unbelievable exchange:
He called the police and ten minutes later they arrived. I was standing outside with Azmat.
Officer 1: That's going to stay in its holster, right?
Me: It typically does unless I tell it otherwise.
Officer 2: Ok no problem, youre not gonna see any Canton PD crap out of us.
Me: It's nice to see that some of the good guys really ARE good guys.
Officer 2: Yeah, so what happened?

...no more unbelieveable than "You carryin'?" "Always." "Where ya got it?"..."Right here", patting my shirt at my tummy... "Well, don't go for it." It happened to me on a traffic stop...we both laughed till we doubled over and his lazy rookie wondered what he was missin'...he hadn't even gotten outa the squad...
...or another time when I'd taken a gun off a young man at Waffle House...took it out to the po-po and showed him where I had the boy in time out...when they asked for ID for the report and I complied, he said "He's lucky you didn't shoot him!!!" Wholelotta funnies happen on the street...you oughta get out more!!!

Not unbelievable at all to me. I've joked around like that before. I had one policeman say something similar to me about my gun staying in my holster, and I smiled and replied, "I'll make a deal with you. How 'bout both of our guns stay that way."
As far as the Canton PD comment, not sure if you are familiar with how big a ruckus the whole
Ossifer Harless Canton PD incident created, but it had extensive press and TV coverage, as well as being plastered all over most of the national gun forums. Since Youngstown and Canton are about 50 miles apart, it isn't surprising to me that someone would make a lighthearted reassurance that they aren't going to act like that. These sounded like good cops.
