An Elmwood Park man has been charged with impersonating a police officer after he flashed a badge and fired a gun and flashed a badge at a Chicago gas station Thursday, Chicago police said this morning.

Police answering a call of a man with a gun at a gas station in the 900 block of North Pulaski Road found Nicholas Rada, 29, sitting in a car with two flat tires, a Ruger handgun in his pocket and a gold badge on his car console, said Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.

...maybe ingestion of a controlled substance would have been a good charge, too...and yes, we got the "flashed a badge" part...

Most likely not a CHL'er since he lives in Illinois. Even if he had an out of state license it would not be valid to carry there.

Just another case of sloppy journalism: He had a Ruger, but they didn't ID the model and caliber!! :-)

He flashed the badge twice?
