Stealing, and claiming to be ignorant and then smile about it in front of the camera is just :banghead:

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – When neighbors called Dallas police to report two people stealing copper wire from Martha Cruz’s Oak Cliff home, it was all a mix-up. But little did Cruz expect she’d be taken to jail.

It all began when police questioned Cruz about her electrical meter. ”He said ‘What about this meter?’ I said ‘What about it?’ He said ‘Why is it different than the neighbors?’ I said ‘I didn’t know.’”

I bet she owes them a lot more than $250 If she was stealing power for two years.

I'll bet that $250 is from her original cutoff. I cannot imagine how Oncor could go after charges for what she used with the stolen meter unless they used the last possible meter reading that they had from that stolen meter. Even then, it would be hard to prove that she was the one who used all KWs on that meter.

Like a lot of others who seem to think that the world owns them things, I suspect that she'll end up with probation for this theft and no restitution to OnCor. The rest of us will get to make the payment through higher electric charges. After all, she's a single mom with kids.....
