An Army private has been arrested in connection with an alleged plot to attack Fort Hood that authorities suggest was close to being carried out...

...Sources also say Abdo was attempting to make a purchase at Guns Galore in Killeen, the same ammunition store where Maj. Nidal Hasan purchased weapons that were allegedly used to gun down 13 people and wound 30 others at the base on Nov. 5, 2009...

...Police in Killeen received information from the owners of Guns Galore about a suspicious male who entered the store and, after asking about smokeless gun powder, purchased as much as six pounds of the powder, three boxes of 12 gauge ammunition and a magazine for a Springfield 9mm. The man allegedly paid for the items in cash and then left in a cab....

No 9mm ammo. That is suspicious.

So if someone goes ahead and buy few pounds of reloading powder, he will be reported? :headscratch
Seriously, there are more info behind the scene not reported. Good catch.

Even money says he was of the Middle-Eastern persuasion, appearance-wise ;-)

Reported to be of the Islamic faith, but certainly doesn't look Middle-Eastern. . .

The OP's article makes it sound like he suddenly became Muslim conveniently when it was prudent for him to declare himself as a conscientious objector to his deployment. He's currently AWOL from his unit in Kentucky.

Sounds like he has all of the characteristics of a coward to me.

I think there is a lot doubts or missing info on the story. Anyone who plans to do an evil deed would not buy from an FFL using his real name, especially if he is AWOL. He called AP a week ago and declared he is in fear of his life and want to buy a firearm for protection.

I feel he wanted to commit suicide by cop.

Thats the point we should be focusing on, that this guy was a coward and wanted to be a murderer. We should not focus on where he was from or what g\God he prayed too because that has nothing to do with a mad man. Ask Loughner, Mcveigh, and the nut who killed a co-worker of mine by flying a plane into the IRS building here in Austin. I'm sick of seeing bigoted post saying I bet I know what religion he was, its stupid and makes the people making the posts look like fools.

How is it bigoted to assume that a(nother) terrorist attack, or a potential terrorist attack, originated with members of "the religion of peace"? Have the Hindu's, Baptists, Buddhists, Catholics, or any other organized religion been up to something I am unaware of in the past 20 years or so? Did the Buddhists suicide bomb a Shaolin temple or something? What about the Clan, or the Neo-Nazi skin heads or Black Panthers? Have they been waging a terroristic campaign that I am not aware of? Inquiring minds want to know.

Failure to accept reality is one of the many reasons 95 year old wheelchair-bound citizens are forced to remove their adult diapers at the airport by the TSA. Don't want to "offend" anyone now do we?

No, it's not "bigoted" to assume a member of "the religion of peace" is behind a terrorist action, it's more like betting the odds, and, sadly, more often than not in the past 20 years, that has been a winning bet.

To those who are in the know, you know that there is day and night difference between Islamist Extremists and Muslims. Islam prohibit targeting innocent civilians period. POW had rights 1500 yrs before Geneva Convention.

I do not want to get into a full blown debate here. But be fair. As there are extreme violent people who claim to be Muslims, there are extreme people who belong to others religions, those who are from USA, Japan, and Norway, etc..

Yes it is considering that there are just as many attacks by non-Muslims that there are by Muslims and saying different makes you look like an idiot.
