So there I was sitting in my car minding my own business...

Not me, actually. Some guy in Washington state:

Synopsis: Homeowner finds guy rummaging thru homeower's kitchen at 8 a.m. Intruder pulls knife, chases homeowner, makes move towards homeowner's kids. Homeowner comes up with claw hammer, chases intruder into street. Intruder (with knife, remember) approaches some other guy sitting in a car. Car guy come up with gun, shoots intruder three times and holds him at gunpoint until police arrive. Intruder goes to hospital for emergency surgery, car guy goes to police station for questioning. Police say there will be no charges against car guy.

Obviously not Texas... Bainbridge Island ...
I couldn't tell what type gun he had.
I can understand 3 shots and holding the guy at gunpoint for police if he only had a 5 or 6 shot revolver and reserved the rest in case a second criminal attacked or threat re-arose.

Just reminded me of a post I read somewhere about a guy from Texas who visited a California Range and emptied his magazine into the target ... The Range master said to him "You must be from Texas right?" Why did you empty your mag instead of reserving some?" Answer was "After each shot I paused and the target hadn't fallen down so I still perceived a threat"... both laughed ... Range master was originally a Texan too before he left the Country and moved to California.

With the homeowner's testimony, it should be a quick no bill.
