Man Assaulted by Fake Police Officers in McCook Speaks Out

Today my company is warning employees that fake police in the Rio Grande Valley stopped an employee in a company vehicle. He was suspicious and only pulled over when he got to a convenience store and they apparently didn't do more than search his truck. My company apparently believes there are other incidents of the kind experienced by our employee --like the one linked to above-- but that aren't being reported in the media. Anyone from the Rio Grande Valley aware of incidents like this?

Wow, that is no good at all.

I would also put this out there as a reason why mandatory presentation of CHL needs to be stripped off the books next session.

From the article:

"He was approached, robbed and assaulted by three men. He says they were in their 20s and spoke only Spanish. He believes they are from Mexico.

'They were wearing caps, plain clothes, jeans. They didn't have uniforms on," he says."

And he stopped because?????? I've never seen 3 cops in a police car. I've never been stopped or tried to be stopped by "cops" wearing caps, plain clothes and jeans, nor would I stop for someone fitting that description. As soon as I see them get out of the car, I will step on the gas and leave them behind. Call 911 and explain the situation and get confirmation that they are actually cops before I even think of stopping again. Even then, I would drive to the nearest police station and inform the 911 operator what I was doing. If the are real cops, they can arrest me once we get to the police station.

I wholeheartedly agree. I have a strong tendency to ignore "unmarked" police cars for a traffic stop for the very same reason.
