In Everett, Washington, in January a 65-year-old woman was charged with animal cruelty for letting more than two dozen cats die in her home. Reportedly the home was in foreclosure and she was ill with breast cancer, diabetes, respiratory problems, and a heart condition.

She pled guilty in March and was in jail awaiting sentencing. Today she died of a heart attack.

I guess the crime rate in Everett, Washington, now is zero and all cats are safe. :grumble
