In Hockley County (near Lubbock) May 20, according to published reports, a 61-year-old man fatally shot his 9-year-old granddaughter in a hunting accident. The girl was killed by a single shot from a .22 rifle. No charges will be filed.

I agree. Prayers to the family overall as these types of events tend to spiral downward after the initial accident, and end up ripping families apart.

I agree. This family will require extraordinary grace to survive intact.

If the media account is accurate, the man was shooting over the cab of a pickup truck and the victim was sitting in the truck when she stuck her head out the window and was shot. Like most accidents, this was preventable.

Wow... So sad...I didn't read the story soley because this is purely a tragedy and was probably avoidable.

May God bless her and and I pray that God may ease the suffering of this family...I couldn't imagine having to go through that kind of pain and/or guilt.
