...had they gotten out of their truck? Were they armed? What's the OWNER's side of the story...amazing that they told the trespasser's side ALONE...(not really)...and they didn't "alledge"...the media's already on the poor trespassers' side...somebody gots to stick up for the property owner!!!

Well, you could get a little closer to the source than a Houston TV station (even if it is a Fox affiliate—or maybe especially because it's a Fox affiliate).

Well Jim. If you read the article in the link I posted from the local Fox news station you will see two letters (AP). This is an indication that it was a news release from the Associated Press. Also, at the very bottom of the news release you will see the source of the story was KTSM TV. One of the very stations you linked in your reply.

I know what AP means, and how local stories get onto the national wire.

It's Obamas fault.

Failure to address the open border.
Actively discouraging deportations.
Failure to enforce immigration laws.

I guess everyone whose name ends in z or a vowel is an illegal alien.

Here's a questionable interpretation of deadly force law from the El Paso Times:

They imply that property owners can use deadly force against trespassers in the nighttime. In any case, this incident occurred in broad daylight.

When was the last time you spent any time near the border?

After wounding the men, the rancher reportedly loaded them into a minivan and drove them about 20 miles to a fire station in Fabens
That was his undoing.

On the contrary. It might be his saving grace. I'm just speculating of course, but maybe after realizing his mistake, he sought help. It might show that he was not just a blood thirsty murderer and trigger happy.

More details to come. I could certainly be proven wrong.

I'd like to hear the ranchers side of the story at this point.

And who here has ever decided that they wanted to go look at property to buy and trespassed on anothers property while doing so? I know when I was looking for property I did not do any "scouting" as the trespassers alluded to. I simply called a real estate agent that was known to have a lot of experience in the area I was looking.. Scouting, as the trespassers state they were doing, can be misconstrued in a lot of different ways.. Scouting to come back at night and steal. Scouting for a home to barge into with firearms and commit a home invasion.

The trespasser being interviewed is playing the race card alluding to the fact that perhaps the rancher may not be hispanic.

I wonder if either of the two trespassers have an arrest record.. That might be pertinent information. If either, or both, of them have a previous history of theft of property, or trespassing, then I can't see their lawsuit gaining much traction. So much more information is needed at this point.

Apparently you haven't been to far West Texas. There are miles and miles of roads out there, some with fences, cattle guards and many without. Some are posted and some not. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I suspect the rancher will be in the court room trying to explain the hand he decided to play out.
