From the NY Post

DALLAS -- A deputy with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office in Texas was killed in the line of duty Saturday while responding to an armed domestic disturbance call near a tiny town about 30 miles (48 kilometers) south of Dallas-Fort Worth.

Several officers arrived at the property in Venus, a town of about 2,000 people, at 3pm local time when a gunman inside a shed opened fire, killing the officer and injuring another.

The deputies returned gunfire, shooting dead the gunman, NBC Dallas-Fort Worth reported.

The names of the victims were not released, pending notification of next-of-kin, a statement from the sheriff's office said.

"Sheriff [Bob] Alford, the Command Staff and the members of the Johnson County Sheriff Office request your support and prayers during this very trying time in our agency," the statement said.

The injured officer was taken to the Harris Methodist Walls Regional Hospital in Cleburne where his condition was not immediately known.

May the Lord watch over and comfort Deputy Taylor's family and fellow officers during the difficult days ahead.
