AK: Soldier allegedly tries to cover up accidental shooting

#1

Post by seamusTX »

In the Anchorage, Alaska, area Sunday, a 21-year-old active-duty Army soldier was reportedly cleaning a pistol around 10 p.m. when the pistol discharged and the bullet hit his wife (who is also a soldier) in the breast and went through the floor into the apartment below.

The woman was not seriously injured.

When the dust settled, the man tried to tell police that the couple had been victims of a robbery attempt. He later admitted the real story.

I know people work late or work shifts or have insomnia, but a lot of this stuff seems to happen late at night. You just don't hear of a lot of gun-cleaning accidents at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Let's not forget Demon Rum and its friends. Alcohol is not a gun owner's friend.

Have you noticed that drinking too much always lead to negative effects?

No one has ever gone on a big drinking binge and had their friend say to them
the next day:

Hey, Bob, you were really drunk last night and you painted the orphanage! :-)

"He said he had been cleaning weapons, preparing to go to the shooting range. He was standing and his wife was on the couch, police said."

If it smells like...and looks like...

You can call it a kitty, but (1) a soldier, (2) cleaning a loaded weapon (3) before going to the range (4) at 10PM (5) standing over his wife, who is laying on the couch???

Just like anywhere else, there are always less-than-stellar individuals handling weapons in the Military. I saw it in the Marine Corps, I saw it in the Army. And it wasn't always from the nOObz that had never handled a weapon before.

I am sure than any female members of this forum would dispute that last statement.
