A Harris County man was found shot to death early Tuesday in front of his home. The man's wife said she woke during the night and was unable to find her husband, identified as Donald Frye, 41. She searched outside and found him lying in the driveway, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

It is sounding more and more like the crime problem in Houston is getting worse.

I wonder what the motive might have been? It doesn't sound like a home invasion gone wrong. Had that been the case he would have most likely been found inside his home, unless he gave pursuit out to the driveway before they displayed a weapon and killed him. It sounds more complicated, perhaps a personal dispute or something random like a gang initiation. Perhaps they lured him outside under a guise of something innocuous and killed him once he was on the driveway. All this is speculation of course without further detail about where on the driveway he was found and whether there were any signs of a struggle on the body suggesting that he knew there was something wrong when he went outside.

Could be a random drive-by, but I'll bet there may be more to the story, even the potential of the shooter being known by the deceased or the wife.

Frye was recorded on a surveillance camera Monday night returning a movie. Minutes later, neighbors said, they heard a single gunshot. "It was exactly 9:40. Whenever I hear fireworks, I always look," a neighbor said. Frye's body was not discovered until three hours later when Frye's wife awoke and found her husband not in bed. Robbery was a possible motive, but Frye's wallet had not been stolen, investigators said.

This just in: A teenager has been arrested for the murder of Donald Frye.

Giovanni Mora, 19, has been charged with capital murder. Fyre had gone to return a movie to a local Redbox. Mora told police he and an unidentified accomplice followed Frye home because they wanted his car. One of them allegedly shot Frye because he didn't turn over his keys quickly enough.

The teen arrested, Giovanni Mora, 18 was out on parole for another robbery. He was released in December of 2010 after serving half of a two-year sentence. He also had a previous conviction on a drug charge.
