NY: Murder by knife

#1

Post by seamusTX »

In a crime eerily reminiscent of the murder of Kitty Genovese in 1964, a man on the lower east side of Manhattan allegedly stabbed his "girlfriend" repeatedly around 2 a.m. Sunday, causing her to scream for 20 minutes, according to witnesses.

Four people called 911, but no one could locate the source of the screams.

Around 2:30 a man walked into a local police station and confessed to the stabbing. First responders found the woman near death in the the apartment that she shared with the suspect.

She died a few hours later in the hospital.

The "suspect" claimed that he was defending himself when the victim attacked him with a knife while she was moving out of the apartment (at 2 a.m. Sunday).

He was charged with second-degree murder.
