A Brevard County man blasted away with an assault rifle at a SWAT robot while wearing nothing but his birthday suit. Authorities said a man with several guns was suicidal and threatening authorities. Instead of risking any lives, deputies sent the $65,000 robot into the home. The robot has cameras, which record all of its actions.

I know that my title was a bit sensational, but as these robots come into more widespread use they will save many LEOs from injury and death. Similar robots are already being used by the armed forces where they have saved the lives of soldiers. I worked for a company that designs and builds the robots.

That is certainly an interesting title, but on topic, robots big and small are here to stay. Air, water, and ground surveillance, work in unsafe area, multitudes of other uses.

I wonder if they have deputized the robot to make it murder if you "kill" one,

like when a BG injures a police K9.

After he shot the robot inside his house, they had a naked man with an AK47 and a broken and disabled robot with a $65,000 price tag. I don't understand how the robot saved someone's life and allowed them to safely apprehend him.

Before the robot was disabled, the pictures gave the police an accurate layout of the room showing positions of cover and concealment, furniture, entrances, exit paths, windows, etc. The pictures showed what kind of weapon he had, whether he was wearing body armor, a gas mask, etc. The video also showed whether or not he had a hostage or an accomplice.

I am sure that one of their primary purposes was to titilate the public. Just like my "headline".

Looks like he wasn't wearing body armor.

Should have a taser mounted on the robot so it could defend itsself.
