While it really was the fact that he hit his concrete floor that caused the death, it is still a reason I state that a single punch can be considered deadly.

...minding one's own business, not provoking anyone, one shouldn't have to endure ANY punches...and some of us WON'T..."don't start none, and there won't BE none" seems to apply...(what a waste of a young life!!!)

THIS is exactly why I don't entertain the notion that I am supposed to accept physical punishment before I can legally justify the use of my weapon. And I'm a fat gimpy 58 year old, not a young fit combat veteran.

Just make sure you can reasonably show the disparity of force then. It can be a fine line.

Well in my case, disparity of force is going to be easy to prove. I was going to add that you'd have to be an old granny to attack me and not have me claim disparity of force, but then, I've seen some grannies that scare the bejabbers outta me.

I'm 6'-5"....260 lbs. and still in decent shape, but Nuns still scare me (went to Catholic schools).
I don't think I'd shoot one though.
Seriously, the "shoot before attacked" thing (when opponent is unarmed) can be pretty dicey. You're a smart man...so if the time ever comes for you (God Forbid), I am sure you'll make the right call.

Maybe you should carry a wooden ruler, along with your handgun.

I am of the same opinion. I won't be 58 for 3-1/2 months, but the rest fits pretty well. I am just too old and beat up to do any "knuckle dusting".
My dad always said that there is no such thing as a fair fight. If it takes a hunk of two by four or a baseball bat or a hunk of steel rod, use what it takes to win.

I dunno...guys, this is getting mighty close to that "if your only tool is a hammer" thing.
Legally speaking, can be mighty dangerous ground to tread on.

I'd hammer in the morning
I'd hammer in the evening
All over this land

Hah! Pretty good!
But..I doubt the younger folks here would recognize the lyrics.
I like the version by Peter, Paul and Mary (Uh-Oh...I'm really giving away my age now).
