The story reports that at 6:00AM this morning a man was eating with his family in a SE Houston restaurant. The man got into an argument with a customer in a restaurant. When the family left the restaurant, the suspect followed then home and fired into their vehicle, hitting the 8 year old girl. She was taken to the hospital. Her condition is not known. No suspects have been arrested.

It's sad a child had to be hurt from this. I pray she's alright. I wonder what exactly happened to cause the guy to follow them home?

Maybe I am reading too much in to the story, but it says they all knew each other and I am speculating that there is some history.

There is an updated story on this. Apparently the girl's mother got into an argument with some people in a restaurant. The report did not state the subject of the argument or how it started.

Derrick Anthony Lopez confessed to shooting eight year old Desirae Mendoza. Police said they have recovered the gun used in the shooting. The story doesn't explain the motive for the shooting.

There are no reports that he is a felon, but it wouldn't surprise me to see more charges filed against this gentleman.

He should get five years added to his sentence just for being such an ignorant person. People like like him make society worse.
