In Texas City a clerk in a convenience store in the 7300 block of FM 1765 allegedly locked children in the store and drew a handgun after some children stole candy. He released the children, and no one was injured.
The mother of an 8-year-old girl who was not accused of stealing called the police later. Police investigated, but no charges have been filed (yet).
The incident took place "after school let out," so day time.

This is the same garden spot I have been compiling stories about here.

Fear, anger, hatred, and greed. The devil's all-you-can-eat buffet.

P.S.: No further news, but the comments attached to this story are bizarre.

I hope no one seriously thinks that locking up 8-y-o suspected shoplifters and pointing a weapon at them is justified. Illegally detaining suspected shoplifters who later turn out to be innocent has cost large stores millions in damages.
BTW, for those who are not familiar with the area, west Texas City is literally the wrong side of the tracks.

Re: Texas City: Store clerk draws down on desperados
Update: Clerk denies drawing weapon. An adult woman says she was in the store at the time and that the clerk did draw a weapon.
Surveillance video has not yet been analyzed.

Unfortunately this is likely to become a racial issue.
