The shooting happened around 1:15 p.m. at a home in the 7100 block of Oakridge Drive, near Fredericksburg and Callaghan. Police said two males in their late teens or early 20's used a hammer to break a large piece of glass to try get into the home. The couple living there heard the glass breaking. Investigators said while the husband yelled at the males and asked what they were doing there, the wife grabbed a gun and fired at them.

Just noticed this story on http://www.thearmedcitizen.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; before I saw it here. Here's the newspaper story from there http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local_ ... 941741.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Some great quotes from the San Antonio police chief (maybe he'd like to come be chief up here in Austin?)
McManus said the shooting appeared to be justified, and no charges were filed.

He said he doesn't know what burglars typically might be thinking when they break into a home, “but they should be thinking, ‘This could be the last home I break into.'”

It was the second homicide of the new year. Six slayings last year by civilians were ruled justified, most of them in response to home intruders.

“People who live in San Antonio are well aware of the law and have acted accordingly when people are in their homes,” McManus said.
