In Concord, California (Oakland area) Wednesday a 21-year-old man unintentionally shot himself in the head. Apparently some vital organ was damaged, as he subsequently died.

The shooting occurred about 11:20 p.m. Wednesday at a ... residence where eight people were hanging out and drinking, Concord police said.
