LA: Rule 4 violation

In the Shreveport, Louisiana, area Monday, a man who was sighting in his rifle allegedly shot and struck two members of a train crew who were some 400 yards away. The injured men are expected to recover.

unless shooting high, way high, at 1200 ft, that some 400 yrd, you would have some 20"-30" drop. It was negligent discharge or horsing around, not zeroing his rifle. Most likely a long range shot gone bad.

That's a good point.
I should mention that the area is in a river valley. There could be a two or three-foot drop over 400 yards. I know nothing specific about the terrain where this incident occurred. However, if you have spare time to waste, you can look it up on Yahoo maps. Yahoo shows the railroad line.
