BRUNSWICK -- A Glynn County homeowner shot and killed an intruder who broke into his home early this morning, police said.

Ezekiel Wiley, 68, told police he shot a man, later identified as William Bernard Stafford, 47, of Brunswick, after he forced his way inside his home on Glynn Marsh Circle about 1:25 a.m., said Capt. Marissa Tindale of the Glynn County Police Department.

Since the homeowner knew him so well, you have to wonder what the guy would have done with that screwdriver had the homeowner recognized him and tried to just have a heart to heart about his long long criminal history. The fact he was breaking in to steal from a man whom had befriended him and bailed him out of jail more than once shows he could not care less. It is sad for the homeowner, but I do believe his life was in danger. You see lots of cases where murder was committed just to avoid being fingered.
