Midwest City Woman Blasts Thugs, Press Helps Locate House

Three male teens plan robbery. Two male teens kick in door just after 0800 where woman and her two small kids live, third teen acts as lookout. She shoots, scores, then calls cops. One dead intruder, one wounded intruder, one unwounded lookout escape. Escapee's go to lookout's house, call cops and claim the bloody one was wounded in a drive-by shooting. Cops put two and two together, surviving thugs now facing first degree murder and burglary charges. All three had multiple previous contacts with the police.

We (at least Seamus and I) have commented before on the press's varying record in identifying or not the victims of crimes, particularly when the would-be victim turns the tables. In this case, at the link below, not only does KOCO.com identify the woman by name, but helpfully provides a map with a "thumbtack" showing exactly where the house is. :roll:

In case the link goes dead: a neighbor is quoted as having moved into the neighborhood only three weeks ago and has already been burglarized twice. Another family packed up and left after this incident. However, I suspect the burglaries will taper off for awhile...

http://www.koco.com/mostpopular/25477146/detail.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Whoops: edited to add: Midwest City, Oklahoma. MWC is basically surrounded by Oklahoma City. I used to live in Del City, which abuts MWC on the south, and is also surrounded by OKC.

It would appear that the leftstream media is tacitly encouraging retribution against the victim for defending her life and her children's lives because the story of her courageous and successful action doesn't match the fantasy they're selling that submitting to violent criminals is the proper response.

If some of the first home invasion team's associates take them up on the helpful directional guidance, the press would then be able to triumphantly proclaim that it's foolish to defend yourself by using whatever happens to the victim as "evidence."

If there is a follow on attack, justice would be served if the offenders involved were to be met with the same resolve and skill as the first set.

Sounds like a wonderful place to lead a happy and rewarding life and to raise a family.

I'm not thrilled about publicizing the names and addresses of crime victims, but I suspect the two surviving bad guys already knew the address.

I was stationed at Tinker AFB, which is bordered by Midwest City, Del City, and OKC, in the early 80s. I really liked the people there, but did not like the environment. (Got rained on by mud more than once -- plays the devil with a nice light blue USAF shirt!). OKC had its knotheads and thugs then too, like any big cities, but generally the Okies were very nice people.

It rains mud here in San Antonio, too. Craziest thing I've ever seen.

While that's certainly true, now everyone in Oklahoma City does.

Update:

Through another forum, I found the husband in the family that was targeted in the OP is a member of XDtalk forum. I haven't read all of his two threads, but from what I have picked up so far:

His family has been hit twice by "hot" burglaries/home invasions, and both times he was at work. The first time (this past August) his wife heard someone in the garage, grabbed kids, locked herself in the bedroom, got out the shotgun, and called 911. Perp caught by K-9.

Second time was the story in the OP.

He is moving his family to Utah (this was already in the works prior to the invasions). However, after the second invasion, his family received a number of death threats. He says he moved everything out of his house and into storage within 12 hours, most of it with police protection. I think he can't wait to get to Utah.

First incident: http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/xdtalk-cha ... ou-do.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Second incident: http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/xdtalk-cha ... -mine.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Sad.

That's actually my hometown. Was born in MWC and lived there until I graduated from college. I know just what neighborhood this happened in. It was just down the road from where we lived when I was very young before we moved out to a house in the sticks near Choctaw.

I'm glad the woman was able to defend herself and her children but sorry that these kids decided to do this. I'll remember to always be packing when I head up to the next high school reunion...though that's probably a given anyway ;-)

Death threats after shooting someone that is burglarizing your house? I am having trouble comprehending how any thinking person could come to the conclusion that someone should be killed because they used deadly force to protect themself. After all, if you are against the use of violence, then surely you wouldn't condone killing anyone.

Are these threats coming from people in general, or from members of the BG's gang / friends? If the latter, then this somewhat makes sense, although I am still having trouble figuring out why criminals would find it offensive that someone defended themselves. Wouldn't this just be considered an occupational hazard?

Maybe I am too sheltered.

I wouldn't at all put it past a rabid anti-gun/self-defense type to make death threats to a person who defended himself with a gun. The anti-gun crowd isn't generally against the use of violence, they're just against ordinary citizens using violence to defend themselves against predators. I don't believe they're all that upset about predators using violence against ordinary citizens, either --you're supposed to feel sorry for these poor predators who have been victimized by society. Some of these people simply have damaged brain circuits.

EDIT

I should have read the article linked to above before I commented. These predators tug at liberal heart strings and pull all the liberal and anti-gun-nutjob triggers:

1. They're step-brothers --warm fuzzies about "family."
2. They're under 18 years old --oh the poor children, they don't know any better.
3. They were just stealing a television --don't you know that the life of a "child" is more precious than a television?
4. The one killed was shot in the back --oh that is just so unfair, to shoot a "child" in the back like that, and over mere property.
5. These "children" were "unarmed" --Oh my God, the law allows you to shoot "children" just because they've broken into your house.
6. These people being robbed probably had all the advantages --the wife doesn't have to work and the husband is employed at the AF base. These poor children are the victims of society just trying to get by --what else are they supposed to do?

I hope everyone gets my dripping sarcasm. Don't you know that by liberal doctrine you're supposed to cower in your home, let the predators have whatever they want, and count on their mercy? That's how it works in the UK and there are a lot of people in this country that want it to work that way here. Given the circumstances the liberals must be coming unglued by the fact that the victim of these predators is not being prosecuted --at least not yet. The death threats make a lot more sense in this light.
