I would really be interested in the follow-up on this....if there is any.

I don't understand why anyone could get away with discharging a firearm at anyone else and not be hauled off to jail. As the alleged-victim stated, there should be no need for him to press charges.

The whole representation of the story does not seem plausible. It will be interesting to see if the facts get changed in the next couple of days. I, too, cannot imagine LEOs anywhere overlooking a ND situation.

It will be interesting to find out what the truth is, if we ever do.

Why did he refuse to press charges? According to the story, the cops didn't witness the shooting.

Also why did he take the money if he wanted the guy arrested and prosecuted? Something smells fishy.

It seems to me that he said that the police pushed it on him and he was confused and had no idea what was going on.

If someone pulled out and fired a rifle on HW 59, wouldn't you think there would be other witnesses calling in if only to report the shot fired? How exactly did his window get broken?

I just went back and re-read the article. I can't find any mention of a shot being fired. It just says he busted out the windshield.

I too am amazed there was no arrest and no charges. I think there should've been.

I too was so confused by this report on the news this AM - guy is calling - "perp" is behind him but "busts out the windshield?" according to the 911 call they played. It just "don't make good sense". Interested in hearing the facts on this one.

I want to hear the full 911 tape (names and license plates beeped out is OK) to understand the timeline.

I'm trying to figure out how a guy behind me could pull over, stop his truck, get out of his truck, and bust out my windshield. The rear window I could maybe see how, especially if he used a rifle, but it sounds like there are missing pieces somebody left out of the news video.

Also - and here's a question for current/former peace officers - if the victim doesn't file a complaint, and the police didn't witness the crime, what is SOP?

Can someone explain to me how this is physically possible?

"I look back there in the rearview mirror, and I see him pulling out a gun case in the back of his step-side truck," Beams said. "Then I see the barrel of the gun coming over the steering wheel pointing forward."

1) If you slow down in front of another vehicle, what makes you look at the driver in your rearview mirror?
2) The truck is behind him. How does he recognize a gun case in his rearview mirror?
3) How does the guy reach the gun case "in the back of his step-side truck" while he's driving down the highway?
4) How does he identify what he sees "coming over the steering wheel" as a gun?
5) If a guy in a pickup truck behind you is angry enough to uncase a gun and point it at you, why do you stop instead of taking evasive action?
6) After you stop, why does the guy not shoot you but breaks out your windshield instead?

I think if there had been a discharge of a weapon, there would have been an arrest. As it stands now, we obviously need more information than what this guy is telling us. The facts don't ad up. He's leaving things out that might be prejudicial to his view of what happened.

I also find it very curious that KTRK goes out of their way to state that they are not identifying the other party....

Would it be cynical of me to suggest that they're in on something?

Are they hoping that the reader presumes that the windshield was shot out?

If I were a driver with a rifle, I certainly wouldn't have it draped over the steering wheel. I seriously doubt that I would consider shooting out my own windshield as an option. The weapon would be leaning out my drivers side window, or the passenger window.

I agree that the "victim" and the news are showing us only one view of the whole series of events.

I took all that to mean traffic was stopped, and the guy got out of his truck, grabbed a gun case from the bed or a bed toolbox, got back in and uncased it.

If they gave you all the facts, you might not reach the conclusion they want.
