According to this report, it was a MAC-10 with a home made suppressor.

Not so clear security camera footage is at the 07:25 time stamp.

As an aside, it may have been a malfunction that caused the shooter to pause, as the 26 year old described hearing "metal clanking on metal" as the shooter was trying to manipulate the MAC-10.

The other mass shooting was in Half Moon Bay, South of San Fransisco on the coast, where another elderly Asian (this one a Chinese national) murdered 8 people.
