I sincerely believe that the frequency of these attacks would decrease if the news coverage were limited to "this bad thing happened" without referencing the name of the accused followed by a small blurb when that person is convicted and another when they're executed. For all of the media bluster about "responsibility", the arena wherein the media could make a difference by self-censoring coverage of violent sociopaths who crave attention is the one in which the media reliably gives each and every murderer exactly what he or she desires most.

These vermin see the negative publicity as praise, and they feed off of it. Many of the articles on Adam Lanza mentioned his frequenting online forums in which mass shooters were glorified and media reports of their atrocities were held up as a form of praise.

So, let me see if I can understand this right. NYPD sent their special response team to protect their Asian communities because a lone person shot up three massage parlors, killing 8, in a city 1500 miles away from them, even though the sole suspect was captured. Does this make sense to anyone, because it doesn't too me.

Almost as bad as this was the news article that said the suspect was captured "with no incident" after the GSP "pitted" him. Unless I forgot all of my police procedures, you don't PIT someone unless they are running from you in a chase and are a danger to someone else. Just what does that news station consider "an incident"?
