Re: Church shooting in Tarrant County - White Settlement
I did not see where it was linked from but Twitter claims they don't allow any video of a person being killed. It might have originated there. They have been deleting the video non-stop all day long.powerboatr wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2019 11:04 pmwhy was video taken down? it looks like a good training video on you tube

The video will always be available, but it's best to download your own copy so you don't have to look too hard, and to make sure it hasn't been messed with.powerboatr wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2019 11:04 pmwhy was video taken down? it looks like a good training video on you tube

Dang... good guy shooter was my LTC instructor for my first and only renewal class before they removed that requirement... Used to own On Target Firearms in Wiskey Flatts (near Benbrook). All around good guy, glad he was there!

Glad the church had a active security team on hand.
The WSCC is just north of an area of Fort Wirth that has been allowed to become a very rough area. In the late 60’s early 70’s there were a number of large apartment complexes and townhouses built with high-end rent rates.
All those apartments are now section 8 drug havens throw in the transient motels with the hookers and pimps. Nothing surprises me that goes on there. I grew up in the area, and a buddy of mines dad owned a gas station just south of that church. From the news accounts the shooter was a known problem to police in the area.
I was working on getting my new house out of Tarrant County. City of Fort Worth has a similar problem waiting to happen in the southwestern area with older apartments bringing in some unsavory types. The mayor and city council in Fort Worth seem determined to turn it into Dallas West.

Watching the video it was heartbreaking to watch. Don't let that man's example be forgotten. As I was watching I was thinking he acted as if he did not think the shooter was going to fire on him. He seemed to almost hesitate. His sacrifice may have helped the last GG to get on target and take out the bad guy. That couple seconds the BG took to shoot the second guy gave the GG time to get in position for a kill shot.Scott B. wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 9:42 amWatching the video it was heartbreaking to watch. Re: Church shooting in Tarrant County - White Settlement
Took my initial licensing class with my wife at Jacks place on 377 and went there with my sons shooting. Paid for both of their first licensing classes with Jack. Man I miss that place, convenient, and great people to deal with in his shop. Glad at he had the composure to take that head shot as COM would have brought the trajectory too low for comfort across the congregation.
Kind of makes me wish I had bought my new house down in Granbury so I could vote for him but the right layout just never came along at the right time and price.

Unfortunately, we have a tragic example of 'act versus react' and the dangers of being a stationary target.03Lightningrocks wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 9:58 amAs I was watching I was thinking he acted as if he did not think the shooter was going to fire on him. Hopefully, church security teams all over Texas, and beyond, will examine this video and take lessons from it. Turn this tragedy into good.

Re: Church shooting in Tarrant County - White Settlement
I know from Jacks classes that that the first guy shot must have gotten complacent since their security team had been in place for about 10 years. I normally try to not have to go through multiple layers of cloth to reach my carry weapon. He had to go under a sport coat and a shirt tail both drawing upward and then bringing his gun around his body then up to a shooting position. Cross draw from appendix or a good shoulder rig would have given him the time needed to present on the target a lot more quickly. Possibly preventing the BG from getting off a shot on target.
