Worse, the CHL qualification target rewards students for shooting less effective areas of the torso.

The old CHL target wasn't perfect but it was a lot better than current targets.

Does anyone know why DPS switched to a less anatomically relevant target? It seems like a step backwards for good training.
Allegidely, DPS troopers trained on the old DPS target were "shooting too high" and throwing misses in shootouts. So instead of training more they dumbed down their training. I hate the B27 it teaches gut shots. The IDPA and IPSC targets are better but still need some work to be relevant.

I watched a show on Tactical Impact TV the other day where Larry Vickers and Ken Hackathorn (two of the original founders of IDPA) were saying the target needs to be redesigned and the points down raised from .5 second to a full second. I agree with both of them, accuracy is what wins gun fights not .25 second double taps.
