Still have no idea why this story fell into a news blackhole, never to be heard of again.
Maybe people would be more inclined to read the failing newspapers if they did anything other than reprint syndicated content verbatim.

Re: Burned body in George Bush Park (Houston)
The victim's body was identified the next day (July 7).

The victim was a 42-year-old waitress who worked at a restaurant not far from where her body was found. No suspect has been identified. No motive is know. The police have to figure that out. That is part of their job. However, as the victim was a black woman who was not in some kind of scandalous situation, it will not be a high priority.
There is no indication that a weapons ban on ACE property had anything to do with her demise.
What is "syndicated content"?

Fear, anger, hatred, and greed. The devil's all-you-can-eat buffet.

Yeah, I saw that she was identified, but no other details were forthcoming. No info on the autopsy, suspects, why she was on fire, etc.seamusTX wrote:The victim's body was identified the next day (July 7).

By syndicated content I mean that most news you see is a single source that submits a story to AP/Reuters which is then syndicated to all the news outlets. Local TV, Newspapers, Internet. If you go to Google news for example and search for this story, you'll see 50 or so nearly verbatim copies of the same AP article. There is very little original reporting, just endless regurgitation. In theory AP/Reuters is a great idea. In practice it has as many downsides as up.

Autopsy results take months when the case is not a high priority. I already explained why it is not a high priority (at least to my narrow-minded way of thinking).
The woman is dead. Very few people commit suicide and then set themselves on fire, so most likely she was murdered. What difference does it make whether she was shot, strangled, stabbed, or otherwise killed before her time? Only the family will care when the results finally are known.

Well, I care because I like to know what is going on in my local area. Which is what local news should be for.
