If you insist on not wanting police in your establishment, you had better:

Be armed and trained.

Welcome armed and trained customers.

Live in a state with strong self-defense and castle doctrine laws.

I'm guessing that he's 0 for 3.

I am so glad I don't work patrol anymore. I didn't realize that all the people's lives that I helped save by starting CPR, stop bleeding, helped breath, called for Life Flight, because I knew the injury was going to be more than our EMS could handle, were so upset I was there. I guess that they would have complained about the CPR I performed, except that they couldn't breath at the time. How stupid I was to think that I was helping them.

All across the country police officers are the first on the scene of medical emergencies. Very few ever "shoot the dog" or cause more problems for the patient. Does it happen? Sure, but it is not common. In 30 years of LE I have never shot a dog or anything else. Most officers never do.

I have saved babies from choking, rescued people from burning buildings, saved a few people who almost drowned. But based on some of these comments, now I not sure I should have gone to the choking baby call, or the fire call or the drowning call. I just didn't know I wasn't wanted.

I have also delivered death notices, why was I doing that? It is not a "policing function." I would be glad to forward anyone's name to the local department so that THEY can go to these calls instead of the police. You haven't lived until you get to tell a mom that she is no longer going to see her daughter alive again. Who here wants to volunteer for that job? Any takers?

I would have to miss out on the "fun" of watching people die, no matter how hard I tried to keep them alive. I just never realized I wasn't needed. Well, now I get to do investigations, so at least you will not have to worry about me showing up on your medical scene to start CPR, stop bleeding, or help you breath.

Those who have never performed these acts, just don't understand and don't have the slightest idea of what goes on. Feel free to go through an academy then take over these jobs. I am sure you will do it much better than the police.

When we called for my FIL's stroke, EMTs and an ambulance came, that's what was needed that's what came, police weren't needed they didn't come.
Uuh
A man had gone into the bathroom of his restaurant, Red & Black Cafe, and overdosed on heroin.
Isn't the use of illegal drugs the prevue of the police?

Uhh, you deal with the emergency first, then the crime....what, are they going to arrest the dead body?

Oh, and for those who said the police get there first....that has never happened anywhere I lived, sorry, never occurred to me it might.

They must do a preliminary investigation, collect any evidence that could be lost, get the names and addresses of potential witnesses and write a report so the detectives can take over among other things.
God Bless America, and please hurry.

My thoughts exactly. You beat me to it.

A lot of people are content to whine and complain but don’t have what it takes to step up to the plate and change things for the better. About half the time they don’t know anything about the subject they are whining about.
God Bless America, and please hurry.

These. Same goes for the people who say what the police should, and should not be able to have/carry. Who are they to decide what is best for LE when they have never had to go in after a violent armed felon. I don't tell my doctor how to do his job for a reason.

You don't? Well, if I had the same attitude I'd have a dead son and a potentially dead wife, and probably need a liver transplant. Not telling a doctor how to do his job cost my father a heart attack and sent him into a two year death spiral.
