That may well get you off, especially in Texas, but IMO it's morally wrong.RoyGBiv wrote:"I was in fear for my life when I pulled that trigger. All three of these guys had criminal records. If he "chased" them down the street he's toast. He may be toast even if he didn't...

"As long as the intended victim was not engaged in any illegal activity at the time of the incident, this looks like a good shoot. It would not surprise me to find out later that the facts differ from what has been reported."
I had a feeling the story would change as more info became available.

Still a lot of holes in this story but the armed assailants messed with the wrong "would be victim" and got exactly what they deserved.
As for me, I will never step one foot in the State of New York or any other State that abolished Self Defense.

Re: Fleeing Carjackers - Would it have been a good shoot in
I know a lady who was carjacked here in the Austin area years ago. She got out, let him have the car, no trouble, and he shot her AFTER she had given him the car with no threats or resistance or other provocation. It should have killed her, but by a miracle she's alive and healthy today. He immediately left her car and stole another vehicle on the scene, then went on to carjack someone else the same day. Having heard her story from her, I'm not inclined to believe I'm safe just because I've handed over my car without a fuss. There was no conceivable reason for him to shoot her but he did it anyway. In fact, I believe she said that immediately after he shot her he looked at her sort of confused and said, "I just shot you." Broad daylight, nice part of town, on her way to pick up the kids from school, everything that makes you think you're safe. If it could happen to her it could happen to me.RoyGBiv wrote:"I was in fear for my life when I pulled that trigger. Those thugs stuck a gun in my face and tried to steal my car. No need to wonder, there is no way Bloomberg or one of the bodyguards in his company will ever be charged with a crime, no matter what would happen to the rest of us.rp_photo wrote:http://www.opposingviews.com/i/society/ ... -be-victim
Of course NYC is probably the worst place to face this situation, and I can't help but wonder if any charges would have been filed had it involved Bloomberg and an armed bodyguard?
On a side note, be wary of "Browser update required" popups on this site, which doesn't vet its advertisers well or just doesn't care.
