I don't know what evidence led the police to charge the man as they did. I can't imagine the first reaction of someone having a weapon pointed at them being to pull out a phone and photograph it. I would be diving for cover.

Probably we'll never know. Most state cases result in plea bargains. There are dozens of criminal trials in progress in this county at any time, most of which the newspaper doesn't pay attention to.
