Man finds, shoots intruder sleeping in bedroom

Can't see how the home owner could articulate "in fear for his life" on this one, shooting a sleeping, unarmed squatter? The article doesn't give time of day either so we're not sure if he's got "committed in the night" going for him. Maybe the home owner will get clear legally but if the squatter filed a civil suit he'e probably going to have to pay out. Really stupid stuff here. Why not call the police when you see a ladder leading up to your house? He had time to call his sister to bring him a gun? But no time to call the cops? Sounds like he wanted to kill a bad guy. The police could have solved the whole thing peacefully without lawsuits or anything.

Glenn Nugent said when he returned to his home Saturday, he saw a ladder leading to a broken window.
Nugent said he called his sister and asked her to bring him a gun.
Once he was armed, Nugent made his way into the home and found a complete stranger sleeping in a bedroom.
"When I went to the back, I saw that he had the covers pulled all over him, so I just shot over his head to scare him, but instead it just hit him in the backside," said Nugent.
Nugent said he meant to fire a warning shot, but struck the suspect, later identified as Geoffrey Allston.

Shot over his head to scare him and hit him in the butt instead. Yeah right!

This is why I'm thinking he wanted to go in there with a gun, without calling the cops... sounds very vigilante-ish to me. I am sick of those freeloading squatters just as much as the next guy, but they aren't worth the my hassle if I could have just had a public servant go in there and take care of it for me.

If he had time to call his sister, he had more then enough time to call 911 :smash:

This story was told to me as the truth.

Years ago at one of the local plants two guys were always hoo-rahing one another. After one returned to work after being shot in the head by his estranged wife, his unsympathetic buddy christened him with the moniker, "Lead Head". The agitator gave no mercy. He put embossed "Lead Head" labels on the victim's locker, lunch box, hard hat, anywhere he could. Of course, all the co-workers quickly adopted the new moniker to the point that years later, new co-workers never knew ole Lead Head by any other name.

A few years later the agitator was dove hunting when he received a couple of #8 BB's in his behonkus courtesy of a fellow hunter. Without going into detail, it should be easy to guess what his new moniker was....

Karma is a heavy burden to shoulder.

Apologies for getting kinda off topic.

So what you're trying to say is that he became the butt of a few jokes. ;-)

When he's running late, do they tell him to get the lead out?
