This procedure still boggles my mind; especially in this type situation
probably because they had to see it, but "what if" it was because of the bomb he planted ...
The shooter self-terminated so ...
lock them all in ...
I understand if a shooter is "outside on the grounds, get them in and lock down
but
anytime a shooter is IN the building ...I'd want to get them all out, not lock everyone in.
Virginia Tech had a shooter in the building who brought his own locks and chains for doors.
Now the procedure is to do that for the shooter.
Imagine if the twin towers had a lockdown ...
----------------
After San Antonio College had an armed robber escape from a second floor men's room, they installed lockdown doors so the next armed bad guy can't escape ... he'll be locked in like at Virginia Tech ... that''s progress in catching the bad guys .... at the risk of health and safety of those inside..![banghead :banghead:](./images/smilies/banghead.gif)
He apologized to the class (didn't say why)A teacher provided first-aid to the boy, and the school went into lockdown shortly after the 8:40 a.m. shooting,

People who are injured on school grounds sue, and juries award damages against school districts. One of the defenses to that sort of thing is a set or procedures that must be followed in every situation. If the situation arises and those procedures are followed, they aren't at fault, theoretically, even if the procedure makes no sense whatsoever in the specific context. They did what they were directed to do under the plan.RPB wrote:This procedure still boggles my mind; especially in this type situationHe apologized to the class (didn't say why)A teacher provided first-aid to the boy, and the school went into lockdown shortly after the 8:40 a.m. shooting,

The other way is to refuse to find school districts liable for injuries, and let freedom ring. I'm not sure that wouldn't result in worse problems.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.
