American in Israel kills one, shot by cops

A 23-year-old American man from New York grabbed a weapon from a security guard and fatally shot a hotel employee with whom he had an ongoing dispute. He subsequently barricaded himself until police fatally shot him.

Although the man is described as a tourist in the Jerusalem Post and many other news articles, he had been working at the hotel and had been fired. It appears to be a "postal" situation of a deranged employee, with no political or religious motivation.

P.S.: This incident occurred in Eilat, which is a resort on the Gulf of Aqaba, the southernmost point in Israel. It looks just like Galveston, specifically, the parking lot of the Hilton looking west.



There is some evidence the guy was a kook. However, he was not diagnosed and had no criminal history.

It seems when this kind of incident occurs, people who knew the alleged perpetrator say one of two things:

• I never thought he would do anything like this.
• I thought he was a creep.
