Fort Worth Woman Lured from Home, Raped

#1

Post by Keith B »

All the more reason to NOT go investigate if you see something outside.
FORT WORTH, Texas - A Fort Worth woman says she was lured from her home and raped during the weekend.
The incident happened at about 2 a.m. Saturday in a neighborhood off Boat Club Road in the northwest portion of the city.

According to the alleged victim, who does not want to be identified, the attack happened while she was waiting to meet up with friends after an evening out.

The woman said she saw movement in the shadows outside her front door and went to investigate. That's when, she said, someone grabbed her, took her inside and raped her.

What are these people expecting when they venture out "to investigate" a box of chocolates and valentine present surprise?

Hey, I hear something outside my locked safe home. It might be an Indian wanting to scalp me, or maybe a big ole fuzzy cuddly bear with a basket of candy for me, lets go see ... :banghead:

I guess this ^^^ is what living in big cities does to you..??

When and where I grew up, where I live now, how my sons grew up, where they live now…When something goes bump in the night, ya go look and help out or chase off the deer, raccoon, dog, next door kid looking for his ball, guy next door that came over to get a tug out of the ditch he drove into while sneaking home from a few extra hours at the range, fishing hole or fav hunting spot... This whole,,, stay hidden in the safe hose, arm the turret guns, fill the moat, and wait for the forced entry, while dialing the police is just a strange concept to me. (ok I admit, I’d like to have both a gun turret and a mini gun to go in it. Buts that’s just a personal want..LOL)

I also grew up in a place where front doors were left unlocked, and keys were left in cars. (Somebody might need to move you so they can get out.) But that was several years ago, and in rural south-east Arkansas. Many a time, I've stepped outside after dark to, "tug a neighbor out of the ditch he drove into while sneaking home from a few extra hours at the range, fishing hole or fav hunting spot..." Not anymore, and not in Texarkana.
I now live in Texarkana. Not a big city, but not the neighborly country environment I grew up in either.
This lady lived in Fort Worth. Unless she KNEW who was on the other side of the door, she should have stayed inside.

I admit, I know nothing of that city... so it may make perfect sense to be weary of leaving her home.. And the prudent option would have to go so armed (is that allowed in that town) or hind inside and call the police ( do the police in such a city which has so much criminal activity have time to respond to a bump in the night call? Or are they too busy responding to dead bodies and known rapes)

From much of what I see in the media and reported in various internet forums,,,it would seem life in the US where you have to be afraid to leave your house at night, is as dangerous as many of the places my government has sent me across the world.

That area of Fort Worth is way away from the heart of the city. It has a small town feel to the area along Boat club road. I don't know the crime stats there but I would bet that they don't come close to the crime level in Fort Worth proper. I'm sure if she had any inkling that danger was afoot she would not have opened that door.

I grew up NW of FW, not to far from there. We never locked our doors (not even when we went on vacation), left keys in the car, road in the bed of a pickup over rollercoaster hills and never ever wore sunscreen. We lived dangerously. Boatclub rd isn't much different from my hometown. A crime like that was unthinkable and up until that night, may still have been the case.

That was then, this is now. We were astounded when we visited friends in Fernie, BC last week and they didn't lock their doors when we went out to lunch and sightseeing. That was there, we are here. BTW, these lovely people don't have any guns either.

I know the Boat Club Road area, not too far from where I (normally) live. Yes, rural-ish area. But this, most unfortunately, is a prime example of the "it can't happen here" mentality. I understand what bronco78 is getting at, I do. But even though I grew up in a small town as a teen, and "out on the ranch" as they say in South Texas, I don't think like that anymore. Some areas are worse than others, but the bad guys can be and are any and everywhere...and they have no pity or remorse...so I won't either...and that's all I've got to say about that. Thanks for posting, I passed this on to my wife (since I am not able to be home right now).

What I posted is true and heart felt, yet I agree with the above as well.

Just because we live in a location that "that" should not happen, and we still go see what went bump in the night... Don't equate that to doing so unprepared for what MIGHT happen.

I'm sorry that woman found trouble in a place she thought there would be none...I wish she had been better aware of her surroundings and never had to go through that...... THIS :fire :fire :fire :fire would have been a better option.
