The search continues for a robbery suspect in the South Bay after police say he held up a store clerk and slashed his throat.

BG goes into store with a concealed shotgun in a box. Takes the clerk to the back and hancuffs him. Then after taking the money goes back and slashes the guys throat.

Yes, anytime the BG's start "herding" you to the back room, that's the setting for a murder.

Even if you are not carrying a gun, it's time to grab something hard and unpleasant, or hot and liquid (coffee, say)
and begin fighting back. BG's hate it when you fight back. They like compliant victims.
