I HATE thieves and will do what I can to see they get stopped....either caught by the cops or other necessary means. I don't plan to watch them get away while waiting for the cops.
Now, saying that, every situation is very different so I can't say HOW I would react but my neighbours know that I WILL act and do what I can to safely protect them. They will do the same for me as well.
It helpful that we are all on different shifts so it is rare that we are not covered.

Seems the media is supportive of this homeowner's actions. Would not be this way in the rest of the country.
