I saw some of the footage of him in court today on the news. Either is nuts or the stress and gravity of what he's done and what he's facing is coming down on him.

He was creepy to watch. As brilliant as he seems to be, and as calculated as his attack was, I couldn't help but wonder if he was acting today. I almost didn't buy the pitiful looks and absent stares.

What if the right to, buy, own and possess a gun was restricted to those men who are at least 25, unless they received a yearly clean bill of mental health from a licensed psychiatrist. And it would be illegal to sell a gun to a male unless they were 25 or possessed a clean bill of mental health card from a licensed psychiatrist.

I was out of town at a friend's wedding and didn't see this little gem, so I apologize for bringing it up from 3 or 4 pages back.

On a personal level: I am a 25 year old male and have had my CHL for 3 years.

Just to turn this around a bit, I think everyone over the age of 70 should be required to pass a vision test and a practical driving test with a licensed DPS official every year before they're allowed to obtain a drivers license.

But seriously: The idea is completely foolish.

1)Some psychiatrists are firmly anti gun and would abuse their ability to deny people their 2nd amendment rights.

2) Anyone who possesses even a modicum of intellect can defeat the sillly basic spectrum of questions they ask. You don't say that anything makes you angry, or resentful, or that you often imagine yourself as the omnipotent king of the cheese people on moon base 3.

As to the idea of "getting out in front of this" and providing alternatives:

I don't care who is telling me more gun control is the solution, whether they're a gun owner or not. An alternative proposal to further restrict our freedoms from somone nominally on "our side" is worse than a suggestion from the Brady Campaign.

To end before I get on a huge rant about the subject....No. Just no.

In lieu of a psychiatrist, we could use the deer in the headlights eye exam, in my view both are just as effective. Gun dealers could be required to take your picture and compare it to the standard test sample Charles Manson, or now James Holmes.

The driving test should start at 80.
