I think OC is legal in MN and I don't know about their restrictions on bars and guns.

This is a quote about the bar part from another source. I don't know whether it's true or not because I haven't looked it up.

Minnesota has no laws stating it is illegal to carry a pistol into an establishment that sells alcohol, however it is a crime to carry a concealed handgun when under the influence of alcohol. It is not known whether King had been drinking.

It's a very white state...I spent 8 years of my life up there. But to say there are racial overtones is uninformed and incorrect.

The picture shows the guy was pretty beat up. I don't recall anything about the man resisting arrest.

I'm sorry if my comment seemed to be personal. The jerk statement wasn't aimed at anyone in particular, but as a reason to dislike someone instead of race.

After leaving a local nightclub, King said he was walking down a Minneapolis street heading towards his truck at around 2:45 a.m. when he observed some police officers in front of him, which he says “wasn’t a problem” because he was doing nothing wrong.
Before making it to his vehicle, though, one of the officers stopped him and asked, “Hey, what’s that bulge under your shirt?”
King said he put his hands in the air and informed the officer that he was in possession of a handgun and a legal concealed carry permit. His permit does not expire until 2017, he said.
“He did not ask first to see my permit, he did not ask to see my ID,” King explained. “He just grabbed me by the neck and slammed me against the wall and snatched my gun from its holster, screaming ‘gun! gun! gun!’”
Four additional cops reacted to the commotion and began beating King and slamming his face on the ground, he said.

King says he had not been drinking any alcohol the night he was beaten and arrested and claims he took two separate breathalyzer tests, one administered by the police and another at the hospital. Both readings turned up zero traces of alcohol, he says, although that has not been verified by officials.
“I did not drink one lick at all … . I know I’m not supposed to when I have my gun,” King told The Blaze. “I wanted them to give me a breathalyzer because I knew I hadn’t been drinking anything and they have to try to find a reason for why they beat and arrested me.”

If his story is true this seems bad.

He wasn't killed, so I wouldn't count on him getting more than Scott's family.

When someone is killed, and their heirs sue, the future earning capacity of the deceased is one of the factors that is used to determine the amount of a settlement. Whether or not the heirs will agree to the proposal depends on the financial situation of the heirs and how much or how little they will settle. For some people a lump sum of $100,000 is a lot of money. More than they would ever see in their lifetime. For others, that amount as a proposed settlement would be considered an insult.
