So I was stopped at a red light at 22nd and Broadway around 3:15 p.m. today minding my business when a brown or burgundy Jeep Liberty-style vehicle made a left turn onto 22nd northbound, followed by three—count 'em, three!—Galveston police cruisers.
The police turned on their lights and everyone pulled over. It was all orderly and civil.
The officer driving the rear car was right across the street from me. He got out carrying a rifle.
Just then the light changed, which I took as a sign from God to get out of the crossfire.
As it happened my destination was across Broadway. By the time I came out, maybe ten minutes later, the intersection looked like officer appreciation day at a donut shop.
I have no idea what it was all about. Probably arrest of a fugitive or bank-robbery suspect.

Interesting. Put up a crime report when/if one is posted on what was going on.
In a related note (seeing lots of cops) I must have seen 10-15 people pulled over by DPS troopers on southbound I-35E yesterday evening.
