Police said they found two handguns in Johnson's car. She is licensed to carry a gun, officials said.

Anyone ever wonder if someone might claim you brandished a gun in an effort to get you in trouble. Then I get stopped and naturally, I have my concealed weapon. While I never brandished any weapon, the cops are going to look at me with the ole fisheye.

I think we had a thread about this one time. I believe the op was a motorcycle rider who was accused of this when he was innocent.

I always wonder if the accused actually brandished or if the person calling in was simply thinking they did or even making it up to get you in trouble.

I read the story and it didn't say she admitted she brandished, would it not be one word against the other and no conviction?

I worry about this too. I considered having my glock painted purple just for this. You get them on the stand and ask "what color was the gun that she pointed at you." They answer it was a big black scary gun! You have your glock that clearly has purple grips---next case! But my DH wants it to remain black so that they kids never ever mix up a real gun with a squirt gun.....Anyway.

Well, let me simply share.....we don't know all sides of the story.

I'd suggest that we sort things out before they're brought to the gallows......

How would the other party know to report a gun if they hadn't seen one?

I'd say that lends some credibility to the reportee.

I know cops who estimated half the cars in Texas had a gun in them before MPA. I don't think it's less now.

Some may find this hard to believe but people do lie at times to get others in trouble over highway incidents. One of my favorites was the guy that called in to complain about one of our guys trying to "kill" he and his family attempting to run them off the road.

The great part was the guy he was complaining about was me and he got mad at me because I turned right before he made a left turn behind me. The jerk road my butt for three blocks acting a fool. I did give him the international sign for " your number one". But that was after he gave me heck for several blocks.

Even better.... He was alone in the car with no family. When I told him that was me he was harassing and I knew there was no family, he got quiet and hung up.

Yep... It may sound crazy... But some folks will make up stuff to cause you trouble. Saying someone showed a gun has to be one of the top ten lies told by jerks who lose in a highway position contests.

I had someone do that to me at night a few weeks ago. She was honking her horn and waving at me... At first I thought she was raging on me, then I realized I was driving down the tollway with my lights off. There is so much mean spirited activity going on these days we all are jumpy about other cars on the road. Its similar when you try to let someone over that wants in your lane. They always hesitate like it is a trap...LOL.
