MARTINEZ, Ga. -- A home invasion turned deadly after one Martinez teenager took matters into his own hands to protect his family Wednesday night.

The Sheriff's Office says a 15-year-old shot and killed 19-year-old Justin Stephens of Grovetown after he barged into the home with an another man.

"Everything points toward an invasion of the home," said Cpt. Steve Morris, with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

Around 7:30 p.m., two men showed up at the family's doorstep at the Petersburg Square apartment complex off Baston Road.

"Suspects knocked on the door. The homeowners opened and the suspects barged in," Morris explained.

According to investigators, a physical fight started between the homeowner and the two men.

"Homeowner's son broke free and retrieved father's rifle," Morris said.

One of the comments from that page really demonstrates what is wrong with society.
I'm sorry but...I knew Justin Stephens and I would be one of many people to tell you...Justinn is not the type of guy to just do a stupid crime like this with no motive...this story is so far fetched and sketchy
So, what exactly is an acceptable motive for doing a stupid crime like burglary and assault? :banghead:

Perhaps his motive was a strong desire to wear orange clothing and get free laundry service, food, personal hygiene items, rent and utilities and healthcare ... didn't work out too well though.

The problem with trying to assign a logical motive for impulsive actions like this is that the actor isn't acting logically - a career criminal, yeah - he's got a plan and an M.O. and sticks with it - but the small, first or second time thugs are usually doped up or desperate for cash to buy the drugs that they're not rational actors.
