Bernadette Greenwald, 47, apparently lost her cool after someone repeatedly rang her doorbell and ran from the home around 11:15 p.m. Sunday.
According to the article, she is a former assistant DA, had a license for the gun (rare in NY) and was home alone with her 3 kids.

The angelic 17 year old in question whose mother said "“I’m very emotional right now. My son did not do anything wrong.” after he had 5 beers (the legal age in NY is 21 just like Texas) and according to woman's husband, had been on gun owner's property in the past.

Some interesting information missing from the article is:
1. Had the gun owner ever tried to contact the police in the past and gotten the cold shoulder? It happens a lot, even in the far suburbs.
2. Has this kid got a history with LE? I know what my guess would be.

What the woman did was clearly wrong. It will be interesting to try to track this matter and see what the disposition ends up looking like. I'd guess that they are going to throw the book at her. NY has no tolerance for non-criminal handguns.
