GA CHL uses Taurus .357 revolver to kill carjacker.

The above link is the 23 year old GA CHL's 1st person account of the attempted carjacking/robbery that
resulted in him firing 3 shots from his Taurus .357 revolver, resulting in at least 1 round hitting the BG
in the head and killing him. I don't believe either link actually states how many of the 3 rounds hit the
BG, but he caught AT LEAST 1 in the head. You know that .357 left a mark!

Man, that is a horrible story.. I mean...... He only hit one? That means his buddy is out there to rob again.. I commend the victim for not acting like one.. And would happily offer my time at a local range should he wish to have better odds at taking both robbers down next time.. And Yes, so as to not be confusing, im advocating the stoppage of BOTH threats using deadly force on the spot, not chasing them down.. That would be wrong. Though a fake move, the process is real " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think the guy did exceptionally well. Imagine the duress - two assailants, one with a knife to your throat. He successfuly fought off the knife-wielder, drew and fired three times as the attacker tried to re-engage. That's pretty darned good IMO. I hope I do as well if such a thing ever happens to me.
The amazing thing to me was that kids still play D&D
Based on this kid's performance, maybe I need to look into that.

Wow, what a story!
It just dawned on me that you can't double tap a wheel gun like a semi-auto. I wonder if he could have put more rounds on target with a semi-auto?

practice is a good thing but, I think Jerry's a cyborg way too fast for a mortal man.

Any CHL who survives a knife fight at touching distance is very fortunate. Instead of silly comments about why didn't he get both of them, we should take a moment to realize that a knife at that distance is a very deadly weapon capable of opening large wounds with rapid fatal results.
Good for him! Glad he survived.

Obviously the BG's made a serious error in the victim selection process.
Without a photograph of the GG, let me speculate on why they assumed this particular man would be an easy mark.
The GG was a 23 year old man who had completed an Associates Degree at Georgia Tech, a school in downtown
Atlanta which specialies in engineering and science degrees. He probably got his CHL since Georgia Tech is
right next to the 'hood. Not a nice area. As a math type student, he may have looked geeky to the homeboys.
Plus he's a D & D player (Dungeons & Dragons) player. Do any of you know some 23 y.o. D & D players? :-)
It's good that during the incident he only got his hands and arms cut. I'm not really a fan of .357 for an EDC
because of the heavy recoil and time to get back on target. But the GG made his work just fine.
Imagine that the GG in this incident was fighting off knife thrusts with one hand and probably firing his .357 one-handed,
and it's a pretty dicey scenario. Glad he prevailed.
The BG's learned the hard way not to bring a knife to a gun fight.

To the OP.. yes my response was somewhat tongue in cheek, though correct as well. Of course, happy he survived.Jumping Frog wrote:Any CHL who survives a knife fight at touching distance is very fortunate. That is actually one of the best gun scenes I have seen in a holywood film. If you look at his high grip and stance it would be a very well controlled USP45 (looks like one to me at least) in real life. Yanking a big gun like that from a waste band an sending two into center mass as you draw would be a hell of a feat under stress but that really to me is the most badass not cheesy shootings in a movie.
Hard to train drawing your weapon into a Mozambique technique with a lot of speed with live ammo. In the back of my mind I always think of the cowboy who videoed himself shooting himself in the leg drawing his compact 1911. I wonder how cruise would do in a real life scenario? To me it looks like he has actually had some real training.
