Webster Foodtown Murder

Post by Teamless »

It can happen anywhere, this just happens to be 1/2 mile from my house,
It is believed to be the first homocide in the Clear Lake City area in more than two years.

My wife wonders why I carry every day, all day, whenever legally possible.
I just wish I could get my wife to use her CHL, she has had it for 18 months almost and has not yet ever carried her weapon on her person or purse, she keeps it locked in her car. not likely she will be able to get it when she would need it

i had the same problem when trying to convince my wife to get her CHL. i didn't want to force her hand, or try to scare her with 'what if' stories... so i told her that, 'in my absence, you are the sole protector of our daughter. if someone were to try to take her away, or do harm to her... it's up to YOU to stop them.'

her plastic should be arriving soon ;)

When you wrote "$50M" I was thinking $50 Million  , but then I read the article and it was $50 Thousand. That does seem a bit low.

Can someone explain how the bond works? Does that mean that they can get out of jail for $5k? Does a bail company base the decision to give the $5k (it is a loan more or less, right) on the crime? Would that mean it is less likely someone will loan them the money to get out?

If I remember right.

Bail is the full amount needed to get out.
Bond is normally 10% of that amount used as collateral. If you fail to show, then the city, county, state or whatever entity you paid the bond to can come and get your property that you used as collateral.
So when they say $50,000 bond, if I am right, then the real "Bail" is $500,000.

Rest in Peace young man.

Please remember... even with a gun on your hip, walking INTO a bad situation that is easily avoidable is a bad idea.

This young man was right.... Dead right. For a Caprice.

He would have been better served using his phone. Tragic.
his death involved an altercation about his car parked near the store - a white customized Classic Caprice with custom rims, New Orleans Saints flags on top and ominous skulls painted on the side back windows.

$50,000.00 dollor bond means that someone has to put up $50,000.00 to the entity (city, county, state) to garuantee that the suspect will show up for proceedings in the case. A bonding company will put up the bond for a fee - usually 10% & they will want a note signed for enough collateral to cover the full cost of the bond. If the actor does not show up in court - the bonding company has to surrender the full amount of the bond. Then they attempt to find the actor & start proceedings to collect on the note. Once he is back in custody the bonding company can recover their money.

I forget sometimes that most use K as 1,000 as in computer lingo and kilowatts. I worked in the refining business for 35 years and M is 1,000 as in 1M barrels and 1M Roman soldiers.

I work in the refining business now, and the M = 1000 thing drives me crazy since M = 1,000,000 and k = 1,000! :banghead:

Just out of college, after using the metric notation for 5 years, I was so confused the first time I saw someone refer to 1,000,000 as MM.
