Seems to me that a CHL or gun owner could have ended the problem quickly, and that self-defense would be easy to justify, especially if on one's own property.

You might need silver bullets.

Well it's not the dogs that's the problem it's the owners. At least one of the dogs in the video had a collar on so it was someone's dog at one time. Owners who don't spay/neuter their animals and allow them to roam freely or dump them are the cause of such problems. Would I shoot a dog in a pack that was threatening me or mine? Is the sky blue? I would also report an irresponsible owner in a heartbeat. Perry was lucky with that .380 many canines have absorbed multiple hits from .45 and .357 before giving up.

I'm thinking the dogs in this case are feral/stray/dump-offs. This may be in the same area as the so-called "Corridor of cruelty".

First evening I had my CHL I took the dog for his evening walk. Had my snubbie in my pocket and 3 wild dogs come running down the street. Go figure. They turned out to be more afraid of me then we were of them. But I kinda wish I had a small .22 instead of my .38. Hate to shoot such a large caliber at a dog and miss. Guess I just found a reason to purchase a new pistol. .22 in the right pocket, .38 in the left. Problem solved.
