One of the major reasons I decided it was time to get my CHL. Crime in this city has skyrocketed.

SAN ANTONIO -- A man suspected of shooting a man in the foot during an attempted robbery at North Star Mall's parking garage was arrested Saturday.

Derrick Woolridge, 29, faces charges of aggravated robbery in Friday's altercation.

Police said Woolridge approached a man and woman who were in their car in the mall's garage. He then brandished a weapon and demanded money, police said.

Police said they were able to get a description of the suspect through surveillance video.

Their investigation led them to Woolridge, who was served with a warrant and arrested without incident Saturday.

Police said Woolridge threatened to shoot the couple of they did not give up their valuables. The man tried to push the gun away and that's when it fired, striking him in the foot

Woolridge was booked in the Bexar County Jail on Saturday.

Police said the shooting victim suffered a substantial injury to his foot. He is, however, expected to recover.

Say it isn't so! That's the nice mall. Everyone knows bad things don't happen in nice places.

I had applied for my CHL prior to moving to SA. I didn't get it until I had already moved there. I am glad I took the class when I did. It is not as bad as Houston but you are correct, it is getting a lot worse.

I was debating on if I would be carrying on my weekend vacation over to SA for labor day. I was leaning towards "Probably" and now I would say I'm at "Certainly going to be carrying."
