In Spring today, an alleged burglar was trying to climb fences around 12:30 p.m.

According to this story, he was trying to enter or had already broken into a house occupied by a 26-year-old female police officer. A physical scuffle ensued, during which the suspect was fatally shot.

The story has different accounts given by a police spokesman and a union official.

The deceased suspect in this case was identified. He was a 47-year-old with a criminal history and a fugitive from charges in another state.

One of his relatives made a sad statement:
the family is saddened, but not surprised by the death of [the suspect], who she says would've celebrated his 48th birthday (Aug. 9) the day after he was shot.

"I have not seen my (half-)brother in 20 years, but I know he was not a good person,..."
