Just read in our local paper. Pregnant woman was pulled over and robbed at gunpoint by fake cop on Hwy 6.

Alvin Police Chief Mike Merkel wrote:Merkel also said that only marked patrol cars conduct traffic stops in Alvin at night. He said drivers who are ever pulled over in the dark, in an isolated area, should drive to the closest gas station or anywhere there are lights. It's safer that way for the driver and the officer.

...good advice to pull over for unmarked car only in well-lighted and populated place...or when a marked car shows up...IF you can tell in the dark that it's unmarked...bad situation..hope someone puts one between his baby blues soon...

This is a very bad deal. What happens when you hand over DL and CHL to a fake officer? Several different ways that may turn out and they are all bad.

This why the requirement to produce your CHL when pulled over should be removed. This should also apply to any oral notification period.
